Jeff Brandes took over the helm of Drew's men's and women's tennis program during the summer of 2005 after serving as the Rangers' assistant coach from 2002-2004. In his first season in charge, Brandes led the men’s tennis team to its sixth consecutive conference title and the women’s team to the Freedom Conference playoffs.
A graduate of the University of Rhode Island, Brandes has amassed over 15 years of coaching experience in a variety of settings. Upon graduating from URI with a degree in marketing, Brandes was an independent teaching professional, building a private lesson and client base. He went on to serve as the Director of Pro Tough Tennis Academy at the Inman Sportsclub, where he was responsible for the designing, marketing and managing of the start-up academy. Brandes recently ran another high level academy with former Wimbledon quarterfinalist Colin Dibley in nearby Gillette, NJ.
As Drew's assistant coach, Brandes helped guide the men's tennis team to a 13-0 record and two Freedom Conference titles and the women's team to a 9-3 record and its first ever Freedom Conference title. While serving at Drew, he also continued his Director of Tennis positions at various nearby health and racquet clubs, gaining even more valuable teaching experience. Most recently, Brandes served as the head coach of the women's tennis team at Montclair State University. In addition, he obtained USPTA Pro 1 and USTA Level 1 Sport Science certifications.
Jon Rubinstein, a former University of Delaware player and Assistant Coach has been with Drew University for the past 7 years. Prior to that he coached several high school teams in Northern New Jersey . Rubenstein has undergraduate degrees in Geography from University of Delaware and History at William Paterson University, as well as a Master's Degree in Social Studies Education. Currently, he works as a Mathematics Teacher at Columbia High School in Maplewood , NJ and resides in West Orange , NJ .
An accomplished player, he was a Bronze Medalist in Mixed Doubles at the 2003 Pan Am Maccabi Games in Santiago, Chile.
