Darryl Keckler was named the Head Coach of Drew Men’s
Basketball in the fall of 2008 and given the job of rebuilding the Ranger
program. An elite recruiter and in-game strategist, Keckler laid the foundation
for a successful team during his first year in charge.
Keckler’s reputation as an outstanding recruiter was upheld
as he brought in one of the best classes in Drew’s history during his first
year in The Forest. Inheriting a team that had lost over 75% of its scoring and
minutes played from the previous season, he helped Drew to a four wins while
garnering respect from opponents for its hard work and improvement throughout
the season.
Prior to Drew, Keckler served as the assistant coach at the
Centennial Conference powerhouse, Gettysburg, for five seasons. During his
tenure as the program's assistant coach and junior varsity head coach, the
Bullets went 84-52 and advanced to the Centennial Conference playoffs each
year. The Bullets had their most successful season ever in 2007-08 when they
won a school record 24 games, including their first two NCAA Tournament games,
and advanced to the Sweet 16. A crucial part of creating that success, Keckler
helped recruit and coach four players that were named to the All-Centennial
Conference team as well as a first team All-District player and the regional
rookie of the year.
A native of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., Keckler graduated from
Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University in 2003 with a degree in sports
management. As a member of the TNU basketball team, he logged over 4,000
minutes while starting every game in which he played. A two-time All-TranSouth
Athletic Conference selection, he finished his collegiate career with more than
1,250 points and ranked among the program's all-time top 10 in career assists.
In addition to his collegiate exploits, Keckler was two-time regional
basketball player of the year as well as an all-state quarterback at Mt. Juliet
High School. He holds a master's degree in exercise science and physical
education from McDaniel College. Keckler and his wife, Alexa, are the parents
of two daughters, Olivia and Camryn

Tournaments and won three regular season Atlantic 10 titles. He worked with
three future NBA players during his time with St. Joseph’s: Jameer Nelson, Delonte
West and Dwayne Jones.

Chris Nevolo joined the Ranger staff in the summer of
2009. A graduate of Gettysburg College,
Nevolo set numerous Bullets’ record while leading the team during one of the
most successful periods in the program’s history. He begins his collegiate coaching career at
Drew under his former coach, Darryl Keckler.
While with the Bullets, Nevolo presided over some of the
best Gettysburg teams as a point guard.
His career record as a starter, 49-16 (75.4%), is the best of any player
in the program’s history. The Bullets
made the playoffs every year of his career and as a senior, the team won the
Centennial Conference title. During the
Bullets’ record breaking ’07-’08, Nevolo set the program standard for games
started (29) and free throw percentage (92.5%).
That season the Bullets reached the NCAA Sweet 16 for the first time and
set the school record with 24 wins. He
ranks sixth all-time in assists and ninth all-time in games started. He owns the single season (92.5%) and career
free throw percentage (90.5%) records for the Bullets.
From Neshanic Station, NJ, Nevolo graduated from Somerville High School before earning his B.A. in Business Management from Gettysburg.
