Backcourt, D Dominate as Rangers Win Ramapo Tourney

0039wbsktblDrew’s backcourt of Danielle Barber, Jessica DelVecchio and Kat Luby scored 44 of the Rangers points in a 52-42 win over the host Roadrunners to win the Ramapo Tipoff Tournament on Saturday afternoon.  The Rangers used a 16-2 run the bridged halftime and a stifling defensive effort to knock off the Roadrunners and win the title.  Luby led the Rangers to a 4-0 record with 17 points

Swimming Drops Two to LVC

Drew swimming lost both of its meets to Lebanon Valley at the Kirby Pool on Saturday.  The Rangers had five event winners, but could not hold off the superior numbers of the Dutchmen and women.  The men’s team had wins from freshmen Ulysses Baldwin-Beneich and Walter Bakun in the 126-65 loss.  Selena Davis and Kati Eggert won individual events in the women’s, 122-57, loss.

Fouls Plague Men's Hoops in Loss

Drew men’s basketball saw a winnable game slip away in the final minutes of play in a 50-46 loss at Rosemont College on Saturday.  The Rangers led by nine at one point in the second half before the Ramblers scored 11 of their final 16 points from the foul line to pull out the win.  Mike Mayes was the only Ranger in double figures with 12 points while Derrick Carter led all scorers with 16 for Rosemont.  The loss drops Drew to 1-2 on the season while Rosemont improves to 2-0.

Drew 3-0 With Win Over St. E's

0016wbsktbl Drew women’s basketball completed the sweep of Madison Avenue by defeating the College of St. Elizabeth’s, 63-48, in the opening round of the Ramapo Tip-Off Tournament.  Danielle Barber led all scorers with 18 points and handed out nine assists while the Rangers got career-highs from Eden Blazovic and Rebecca Smith.  Drew improves to 3-0 on the season with wins over Madison/Convent Station rivals FDU and St. Elizabeth’s.

Men's Swimming Defeats Mt. St. Mary's

072swmmingIn a meet full of Ranger wins, the most important was the men’s team victory over Mount Saint Mary’s 101-73 on Friday night.  The Rangers won 15 of the 22 events, but were forced to swallow a tough loss on the women’s side as Mt. St. Mary’s superior numbers helped the visitors squeeze out a 93-87 win.  John Feniello, Kati Eggert and Jeroen Fabricant each won two events in the meet.
