Drew
men’s soccer player Vincent Costa was selected to the ESPN The Magazine
Academic All-District II Second Team.
A senior biochemistry major, Costa earned the prestigious honor as voted
on by the regions Sports Information Directors through CoSIDA. On the field, Costa is a midfielder and
three year starter for the Rangers.

The Scranton Royals stunned
Drew men’s soccer as the visitors used two goals by Jeff Bochicchio to defeat
the Rangers, 3-2, in the second overtime period of the Landmark Conference
Semifinals. Bochicchio equalized in the
83rd and then scored the Golden Goal in the 104th minute
of play. The Rangers had twice taken the
lead though Marc Chiarello and Anthony Pisani, but uncharacteristically couldn’t
hold the advantage.
A cruel ending to Drew women’s
soccer season saw the Rangers defeated in a penalty kick shootout by the
Susquehanna Crusaders, 4-3, following a 0-0 tie in regulation of the Landmark
Conference semifinals. The Rangers
dominated the game, outshooting the Crusaders 19-3, but unable to find the
winner in regulation they were victims of a save by Alyssa Kemmerer in the
final penalty shot of the game. The
Rangers season ends at 7-8-4 while the Crusaders advance to face Catholic for
the Landmark Conference Championship.
Drew field hockey lost their Landmark Conference semifinal at Juniata, 4-1. Facing the #18 Eagles, the Rangers went down 2-0 early in the game and gave up two more goals in the second half before Meghan Howlett pulled one back for the Rangers. At 12-8, the Rangers are still eligible for further postseason play with the ECAC Tournament a possible destination. Juniata (16-3), which got goals from four different players and two assists from Kim Amrod, advances to try and win its third straight Landmark Conference title against Susquehanna on Saturday.
