Drew
men’s soccer was rewarded for its Landmark Conference Regular Season title with
a sweep of the LC Weekly honors.
Jonah Silk was named the Offensive Player of the Week while John Jabar
was awarded the Defensive Player of the Week accolade for the second time this
season.
Jonah
Silk had a memorable senior day performance for Drew men’s soccer as he helped
the Rangers earn a 2-0 win over Susquehanna. He scored the first goal of the
match in the 31st minute to put Drew up 1-0, and then he drew a penalty kick
that was con¬verted by a teammate in the second half to put the match away. The
win clinched the top seed for Drew for the Landmark postseason. Silk is the second Ranger to win the
OPOTW; Sam Nepveux earned the honor earlier this season.
Drew
senior John Jabar closed the regular season with another strong performance as
he helped the Rangers clinch the top seed for the Landmark postseason with a
2-0 win over Susquehanna. The center back anchored a defense that limited the
visiting Cru¬saders to a season-low four shots, as Drew earned its sixth Land¬mark
shutout, and its 13th overall on the season. For the fourth time this season a Ranger took home the
honor. Jabar has won it twice
while Marc Chiarello and Jeff Rogers were recipients as well.
