Summer is a great chance for high school students to explore their interests and experience learning on a college campus. Drew University is pleased to present a number of ways that high school students can get involved and expand their horizons!

United Nations Summer Program

The United Nations Summer Program provides students with direct exposure to both the philosophical foundations and daily workings of this international body. This 4-credit, three week immersion in the United Nations is geared specifically for high school students and is held largely on-site at Drew’s classroom in the United Nations complex in midtown Manhattan.   Emphasizing college skills in research and writing, this program also provides students with the opportunity to make contacts for future internships.

Wall Street Summer Program

High school students are welcome to apply to the Wall St. Summer Program , which affords provides participants with a four week immersion in financial markets. Held in downtown Manhattan, this 8-credit, four week program brings together morning lectures that theoretical, historical and institutional in scope, with afternoon real-life experiences. After completing the program, students come away with a better awareness of credit channels, and investment goals and benchmarks, and have a set of analytical tools that will help them succeed personally and professionally in their financial futures.

Early College Summer Program

The Early College Summer Program invites academically-talented high school students to take college courses at Drew and earn full college credit. This is a unique opportunity for high school students to take a college course with college students, experience a private liberal arts college campus, and earn college credits transferable to other institutions. An automatic $400 scholarship is awarded to any high school student admitted through the Early College Program.

Studio Art Portfolio Preparation:

The Studio Art Portfolio Preparation Program offers a series of two-week intensive classes in drawing, designed to help students interested in majoring in art in college to build a portfolio for college admission. These non-credit classes are also appropriate for students who enjoy the studio arts and want to expand their skills. Open only for high school students.

The dates for the 2009 classes are:
Drawing I: July 6 - July 16
Drawing II:  July 20 – July 30
