The Police-Community Trust, Understanding and Cooperation AmeriCorps service opportunity aims to support law enforcement’s ability to successfully fulfill their duty by helping to build their trust and credibility with the communities they serve. Bridging any gaps between community leaders and local law enforcement enhances the ability of police to carry out their duties.
AmeriCorps members will be assigned to work with the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, in a collaborative effort with the Office of Community Justice and the Division of Criminal Justice to assist with the planning and execution of activities and events that will strengthen law enforcement and community relationships on a statewide basis. Also, members will be deployed to assist Mercer and Hudson County Prosecutors Offices to enhance community engagement efforts in those locations. Members will use social media and online skills to assist in creating online resources for law enforcement as well as engage in community relations surveying member of the public about law enforcement.
Benefits: What You Receive
- The annual full-time member stipend (living allowance) for 2017-2018 is $ 12,630 (less taxes and withholding), paid in equal installments every two weeks.

This AmeriCorps Member position is Full Time, 35-40 hours/week, total service commitment is 1700 hours over a 12-month term of service.
Applicants must meet the following AmeriCorps requirements: A US citizen, US national, Lawful Permanent Resident Alien of the U.S. and/or tribal member; At least 18 years old; A minimum of a high school diploma or GED; No more than three previous terms as an AmeriCorps member; Pass a criminal history background check, including an FBI check.
Our anticipated AmeriCorps start date for the Trenton and Jersey City program sites is December 18, 2017.
