Upgrades to Tolley, Brown and the Suites

The ongoing construction of Drew’s state-of-the-art residence hall will be joined this summer by renovation projects to the neighboring Tolley, Brown, Hurst Foster and McClintock halls.

The two first-year residence halls, Tolley and Brown, will receive upgraded lighting and flooring, as well as improved electrical and mechanical systems.  The bathrooms on each of the buildings’ three floors will be divided to create smaller facilities intended for individual use.  The large lounge that adjoins the two halls will be redesigned to accommodate new meeting rooms, group study areas and recreational spaces.  In an effort to enhance Tolley and Brown’s eco-friendliness and aesthetic appeal, new energy-efficient windows will be installed.

In the Suites—Hurst, Foster and McClintock halls—various upgrades will be made to the buildings’ lighting, flooring, and electrical and mechanical systems. When completed each suite’s bathroom will boast new cabinetry, showers, sinks, flooring and toilets.  As with Tolley and Brown, energy-efficient windows will replace older, less eco-friendly models in all three buildings.

The university hopes to complete most, if not all, work before the start of the Fall 2008 semester.  Further improvements are also slated for the outdoor spaces that surround the residence halls.  These include better walkways, more inviting building entrances, enhanced open-air social spaces and attractive, ‘green’ landscaping.
