Planning Ahead

Whether planning for travel to Drew at the beginning of the year, or other activities throughout the semester, it is helpful to have a sense of the Drew academic schedule and closings, for you or your student. The following dates are an abridged version of “good to know” dates for the 2008-09 school year. Be sure to check the Academic Calendar which is the primary source for complete information about the academic cycle at Drew.

August

Wednesday, August 26th – New Students Arrive on campus and Orientation begins

Monday, August 31st – Classes begin

September

Monday, September 7th – Labor Day, no classes

Monday, September 28th – Yom Kippur, no classes

October

Friday, October 9th – Sunday, October 11th – Family Weekend

Thursday, October 15th – Friday, October 16th – Reading Days – No classes

November

Wednesday, November 25th – No classes; Residence halls close at 12:00 noon; Thanksgiving Recess

Sunday, November 29th – Residence halls re-open at 12 noon

December

Thursday, December 10th – Friday, December 11th – Reading Days – No Classes

Saturday, December 12th – Final exams begin

Saturday, December 19th – Residence halls close at 12 noon

January

Saturday, January 23rd – Residence halls open for returning students at 12:00 Noon

Monday, January 25th – Classes begin

March

Friday, March 5th – Spring Recess. Residence Halls close at 7pm

Sunday, March 14th – Residence Halls reopen at 12:00 Noon

Monday, March 15th – Classes resume

April

Friday, April 10th – Good Friday – No Classes

May

Tuesday, May 4th – Tuesday, May 5th – Reading Days – No Classes

Thursday, May 6th – Final Exams begin

Thursday, May 13th – Residence Halls close at 12:00 Noon except for graduating seniors
