Arts Day - Open House

For high school juniors and seniors, as well as transfer students.

You and your parents are cordially invited to join us for a day exploring the fine and performing arts at Drew. Learn about the many opportunities to pursue your interests in music, creative writing, studio art, art history, and the theatre arts. During this special day you will be able to tour our varied facilities, chat with faculty and students from each of the participating departments, attend special workshops and/or classes, and learn everything you might want to know about creativity and the arts at Drew. Please note: no portfolios will be reviewed during the open house.

Art: "Art At Drew"
Why study the visual arts at Drew? Come and join the Studio Art faculty members Michael Peglau and Lee Arnold in an informal information session about our fine arts program and state-of-the-art facilities
Art History: "New York Semester on Contemporary Art (ARTS 106)"
Come learn more about the New York Semester on Contemporary Art. This program offers students the unique and exciting opportunity to learn about the ongoing history of art since 1945 through the combination of reading, class presentation and discussion, and visits to artists’ studios, museum and gallery exhibitions and public art projects. Every Monday the class meets for a discussion-oriented seminar on-campus and on Wednesdays and Fridays the class travels to New York City, and beyond, to visit artists and view works in various settings.
Music: "Music at Drew”
Play an instrument? Sing? Compose? Intrigued by the history of music? Why study music at Drew? Bring your questions and talk with our music majors/minors and faculty about what’s going on in the new Music Wing.
Theatre Arts: "Theatre at Drew"
Come and find out everything you ever wanted to know about the Theatre Arts Department, and we hope you’re not afraid to ask! Faculty and students will answer questions about our curriculum, production program, off-campus and internship opportunities, and more.

Art: "Meet the Seniors"
Come and meet Studio Art Chairman Raymond Saa Stein with several seniors in their studios, as they prepare for their senior thesis exhibition and talk about what it’s like to be a Studio Art Major.
Art History: "Art History at Drew"
Join Art History Faculty and majors to discuss the Art History program and the great opportunities for experiential learning in New York City. Learn more about the course offerings and opportunities for internships at New York museums, galleries, auctions houses, and leading magazines.
Creative Writing: "A Multi-Genre Creative Writing Reading"
Drew students will read from their own work in fiction, essay and poetry. They and Creative Writing Professor Tiphanie Yanique will then answer questions about creative writing courses and the literary culture on campus.
Theatre Arts: "Theatre at Drew"
Just in case you missed it in the morning!
Music:  "Student Works-in-Progress (Concert Hall)"
A concert by current Drew students including performances by the Drew Madrigal Singers, and the Drew Chorale and Orchestra (performing a movement from the Vivaldi Gloria in D). Don’t miss this show!

Take the opportunity to hear more about the admissions and financial aid process from the offices of Admissions and Financial Assistance.
