What's New?

Civic Scholars Program

For the most service-minded applicants, Drew is offering almost a million dollars in scholarships. Recipients of these scholarships will be able to build on their volunteer experience through special classes, workshops, and community service, and will also have the opportunity to mentor and lead others interested in serving their communities. Read more about this program.

Baldwin Honors Program

The Baldwin Honors Program--started in Fall 2009--offers academically strong students a program which emphasizes independent learning, engagement, and research and culminates in a full-year capstone experience in the senior year. Students in the program share Honors seminars and many opportunities outside the classroom that enrich their experience of liberal arts education at Drew. The program creates a community of undergraduate scholars within each class and across the four classes. Honors students are expected to be intellectual leaders of the whole college community and to enrich the academic culture.

Drew Magazine

The Fall 2009 issue of Drew Magazine has been released, and as always, it's a visual and literary masterpiece. Check out the feature stories from this issue.

Beautification & Modernization

Drew's new residence hall has won the prestigious LEED certification at the silver level.  Designed with sustainability and efficiency in mind, the residence hall is an environmentally friendly structure.  Here's some additional info about the award.

HHMI Bridge Program

Funded by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute grant received last year, admitted students will be soon be offered the opportunity to apply to the Drew-HHMI Summer Research Associates program.  The program will allow admitted students to "bridge" the gap between high school and college with a four week on-campus research experience.  Criteria for their selection will be high school GPA, science courses, articulation of their intent to engage in undergraduate research, and recommendation by a high school science faculty member.  For more information, contact Biology Chair Roger Knowles at rknowles@drew.edu.

Environmental Studies & Sustainability

Based on both the natural sciences and human interactions with the environment, this new major focuses on how we as a society can live sustainably with the natural world. Majors take a range of courses—from ecology and environmental justice to business and environmental sustainability—taught by a faculty selected from 12 different disciplines across the university. Outside the classroom, learning continues through internships, field research or study abroad.  Learn more.

We're in Business!

Beginning this fall, Drew's new Business Studies major will combine the best of a traditional business education with the best of the liberal arts tradition. Students will go beyond the balance sheet to consider the history of work, the business of sustainability and the economic theory that underpins it all. They will also have the opportunity to take advantage of our unique Wall Street Semester and international seminars.

New Majors & Minors

In addition to Business Studies, Drew now offers majors in Environmental Studies and Sustainability and Biological Anthropology, an interdisciplinary major shared between Biology and Anthropology. In addition, Drew has added to its programs a Minor in Dance and a Minor in Public Health
