About the speaker: As an established freelance writer and the Managing Editor at ravishly.com, a top lifestyle brand, Erin Khar, will provide students with an overview of getting their work published — online and in print.
Khar will go over the basics of a pitch, email etiquette with editors, how to find contact information for the appropriate editors, how to build clips and platform, tools for freelancers, and how to formulate pitches for specific markets — OpEd, personal essays, short stories, reportage, etc.
She will also lead the students through a mock pitch exercise. At the end of the workshop, each student will have a pitch ready to send out.
