The mission of the Drew University Center for Internships and Career Development is to help students to explore, clarify, and achieve their career goals.  Career-related services and programs are provided to assist liberal arts students in making the transition from the University to their future careers; from student to professional. The Drew University Center for Internships and Career Development teaches students to:

  • Understand the relationship between their academic studies and careers
  • Make sound career decisions based on an evaluation of their goals, interests, abilities, and values
  • Test possible career choices through internships and part-time jobs
  • Prepare for the job search process
  • Research post-graduate educational opportunities


Monday through Friday 9 a.m.–5 p.m.

Summer hours: Monday through Thursday 9 a.m.–5 p.m. and  Friday 9 a.m.–12:30 p.m.

Yasmin Acosta, Administrative Assistant

yasminYasmin assists in the marketing & coordination of all Career Center professional development workshops, programs and events. She also provides assistance to students seeking employment, internships, and externships. She has a Bachelor of Arts in English and Psychology from Rutgers University, a Master’s degree in Arts & Letters (Literature) from Drew University and is pursuing a Master of Arts degree in History & Culture also at Drew.


Suzanne Ceravolo, Director


Sue CeravoloIn addition to the overall management of the Center, Suzanne provides career counseling to students, including those with physical and intellectual disabilities. Suzanne also counsels graduate students, alumni and military veterans who are transitioning into civilian careers. Suzanne oversees the Center’s Student to Professional Program, which includes the Career Talk Series, Seniors Only Series (SOS), and career development workshops.  Prior to Drew, Suzanne worked in Corporate Human Resources, in various positions. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Fordham University and a Master of Arts degree in Counseling and Human Development from Montclair State University.


Lisa Layne, D.M.H., Coordinator of Pre-Professional Advisement 


Lisa LayneLisa has been the Coordinator of Pre-Professional Advisement since November 2010.  She counsels undergraduates and alumni on the pre-medical, pre-health and pre-law tracks, guiding them through the medical school, law school, and graduate school preparation and admission processes.  Prior to Drew, Lisa served 14 years as a U.S. diplomat with the U.S. Foreign Service overseas, in Washington, D.C., and in New York at the United Nations. She also served as a cultural resource for the US Information Service, touring Spain as a singer/guitarist.  In health care, Lisa worked 14 years as a patient advocate, having started the patient advocacy program at East Orange General Hospital, East Orange, New Jersey.  In addition to working at Drew, she is an adjunct professor with Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Core Program, teaching two courses, “The American Experience” and “Global Issues.”  Lisa has a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies from Arcadia University, Glenside, PA, a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University, New York City, NY, a Master of the Medical Humanities from Drew, and earned her Doctor of the Medical Humanities degree from Drew in 2010.


William Hinman, Assistant Director of Internships

William HinmanBill coordinates the internship program, including initial consults with potential interns, recording of all internship requirements, and updating the Internships page on the Center for Internships and Career Development website.  He also manages the documentation and time-sheets of work-study students employed through the Federal Community Service Program (FCSP).  Bill has a B.A. in Communications from Houghton College.  Before Drew he worked in the development office of a private Christian school.



Carolyn Parelli, Assistant Director Student Employment   

Carolyn is responsible for coordinating on-campus student employment efforts. Carolyn serves as liaison to both academic departments and student service units for the expansion and development of on-campus employment opportunities. Carolyn manages the  marketing and communications efforts for the Center along with overseeing the Center’s administrative support and the Center’s  student assistants.  Prior to this position Carolyn was in the Center for Civic Engagement. Her diverse background includes experience in marketing and financial management in both the corporate and non-profit environments. She has a B.A. from Muhlenberg College and a Master of Business from Seton Hall University.


Maya Sanyal, PH.D., Associate Director

Maya--PicMaya provides short- and long-term career counseling to students and alumni. She assists students/alumni develop effective resumes and cover letters as well as do interviews prep. Maya helps to develop workshops and in-class sessions on career planning and transitioning. She is a long-term, adjunct instructor of Writing and other courses in the CLA and, prior to her ​current ​position at the CICD​,​ has held various administrative positions in CLA​ programs. Maya​ has a doctorate ​from Drew University ​in English Literature/Women’s Studies, and an M.A. ​from Montclair State University ​in Counseling​ (​Higher Education/Student Affairs​ track)​


Richard White, Ph.D., Employer Relations Coordinator

R White photoRichard’s focus is to develop full-time job opportunities for graduating seniors and alumni. It’s his second stint at Drew. He served as Director of Corporate and Foundation relations prior to joining the Center.  Before coming to Drew Richard worked on both sides of the recruiting spectrum.  He managed college relations programs for International Paper, Nabisco Brands, and Brown Brothers Harriman and directed the Career Services office at Rutgers-New Brunswick.  He has three degrees in English:  a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, a M.A. from the University of Kent (England), and a B.A. from Dartmouth College.
