Campus Recreation’s programs are designed to meet the athletic and recreational needs of the whole community–all students, staff, and faculty. Programs provide opportunities for the worthwhile use of leisure time and maintenance of high-level health and wellness. Activities are held in the Simon Forum and associated outdoor facilities.
Our activities often fall within six major program areas:
Fitness: Cardio-vascular equipment (e.g. ergs, ellipticals, treadmills, recumbent bikes) and strength-training equipment are located in the Simon Forum’s Fitness & Weight Rooms. Weekly classes are also offered free to students, faculty and staff. Fitness Class Registration.
Intramural Sports: Both team and individual competition take place in sports and activities such as flag football, indoor/outdoor soccer, basketball, softball, squash, tennis, volleyball, etc. There are leagues, tournaments, trophies, MVPs, and occasional travel to regional and national tournaments. Club Sports: The clubs are organized and operated by students in conjunction with the Department of Campus Recreation. They include: the Drew Rangerettes Dance Team, Men’s and Women’s Rugby, Step Team, Co-Ed Volleyball, Co-Ed Club Soccer, the Drew Pep Band, Drew Unified, Co-Ed Ultimate Frisbee and our Outdoor Recreation Club. The Outdoor Adventures Club provides a variety of physical activities to Drew students, faculty, staff, and community members in the hopes of teaching technical outdoor skills, developing self-confidence, and improving interpersonal relationships, all while having fun. Recreation Events: Campus Rec also hosts special events that also provide opportunities to improve the health and wellness of the Drew community. Some examples of these special events are: Quidditch, Hunger Games Dodgeball, Cash Cab, Pub Trivia, Rock Paper Scissors Tournament and the Drew Olympics. Informal “Self-Serve” Recreation: The Simon Forum houses an indoor 200-meter track, an eight-lane NCAA pool, a basketball gymnasium, a fitness room, a weight room, squash and racquetball courts, and a forum that seats 4,000 for special events. All of these facilities are open for the Drew community to use.
Wellness: The Drew Wellness committee is tasked with supporting and enhancing the entire life experience of Drew students: mind, body and soul by addressing the 7 main categories of a student’s overall wellness:
