Pauline Oliveros in Second Life

The Music Department at Drew University will sponsor the international virtual music organization Avatar Orchestra Metaverse performing online in Second Life in a celebration of composer Pauline Oliveros’ 80th birthday.

Oliveros will be present in person together with author/playwright/filmmaker/spoken work artist  Ione to participate in a mixed-reality performance featuring the Singing Masks of Drew professor Norman Lowrey, new virtual instruments he has created, and new works composed especially for this occasion by other members of the Avatar Orchestra.

Date: Friday, April 20.
Time: 4:00 pm (to accommodate the 9-hour time zone spread of members of the Avatar Orchestra).
Place: The Concert Hall at Drew University.
A reception will follow the program.
Free and open to the public.
