Carlson Bull is the founder and executive creative director at Bully! Entertainment, an animation and game design studio focused on using character and storytelling to deliver engaging digital experiences across screens. The studio’s award-winning work and innovative drive has won Bully! an international clientele and engagements with multinational brands ranging from Disney, Kellogg’s, and Adidas, to Volkswagen, Ford, NASA, and Nike. The studio is based in Baltimore, Maryland with a satellite office in Tokyo, Japan.
Previous to Bully!, Carlson founded Eeltail, a boutique animation and web design company that was acquired by Planit, a Baltimore-based agency. As Planit’s Director of Animation, Carlson built a nationally recognized animation department working with brands such as National Geographic, Discovery Channel, Lexus and Caterpillar.
Carlson graduated magna cum laude from Skidmore College with a self developed major that blended the study of design with psychology, sociology and philosophy. His graduate work was done at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California where among other honors he received a grant to work with the Institute of Neuroinformatics at the ETH in Zurich, Switzerland to visualize Ada: The Intelligent Space, a building that acted like a living organism.
Carlson was born in a no-mans land in east Jerusalem, spent summers growing up on archaeological excavations along the coast of the Mediterranean and lived in Brussels Belgium for part of his high-school years. Carlson currently lives in Baltimore with his wife and business partner, Alex and their five kids and two dogs.
