The Korn Gallery is pleased to announce the exhibition “Portraits of Southern Appalachian Women” by New Jersey artist Barbara Beirne. The exhibition includes approximately 25 black and white environmental portraits of Appalachian women. The photographs are accompanied by quotes excerpted from individual interviews with these women, where they discuss aspects of their lives.
Barbara Beirne is a nationally known photographer. Her work has been featured at the Smithsonian Institution and is now part of the permanent collection. Her recent work has been exhibited widely including at the New American Museum in San Diego, California; The Phoenix Gallery, New York City; and the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, California. Beirne lives and works in Morristown, New Jersey.
