Bill Mutter is a painter, ceramic sculptor, graphic designer and a cartoonist. His work have been included in exhibitions from Gracie Mansion Gallery on the Lower East Side to the Whitney Museum of American art at Philip Morris. His cartoons have been published in Playboy Magazine, Narrative Magazine, and The New Breed, a King Features cooperative single panel cartoon.
His fine art is always about childhood memories (not necessarily his own) and childhood heroes and range from circus freaks to heavily tattooed people and professional wrestlers. He began creating life size ceramic sculpture in the ’80s with a series of fighting cowboys. His most recent series of life size ceramic sculptures, small pen drawings and large (8′ tall) pastel drawings is of children in Halloween costumes.
