You may have seen advertising or heard people talking about “Adulting 101″ on campus and wondered what the heck is Adulting 101? 

Adulting 101 is a new series of programs created by the Office of Campus Recreation. We are proud to offer you a pilot series of programs that will teach you life skills you won’t learn in the classroom! We have partnered with Drew offices and Morris County business and organizations to bring great speakers and lecturers to help prepare you for your post-graduation life. This series of programs isn’t restricted to just graduating seniors! Everyone is welcome to come learn from licensed professionals talk about their area of expertise.

Do you know how to change a flat tire? If your car battery dies–do you know how to use jumper cables to start your car? Know how to find a reliable mechanic? How about replacing your windshield wiper blades?

Gary Robertson has over 50 years of experience in car repair in maintenance working in garages for Bell Atlantic and the U.S. Postal Service. He is coming to campus to share his expertise and knowledge with you on basic car car and maintenance and so much more!

A Dietetic Intern from the College of Saint Elizabeth will be discussing nutrition tips for individuals post graduate. Materials will be given on planning, purchasing, and eating for one.

This class is designed for the complete fitness beginner who knows that physical fitness is important, but doesn’t know how to get started.

Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach Cesar Barrientos will give you a brief tour of the Simon Forum, the fitness machines we have and what muscles they work for you. Cesar will also leave you with a beginner’s workout guide so you can get started on your fitness goals ASAP!

Managing Your Stressstress

Dr Jacinda Hover will discuss different types of stress and their impact on the body will review specific tools to change how we perceive stress so that it does not manifest into depression or anxiety. She will also be offering a “Self care bag” as a raffle/door prize which will include a gift card for a 1 hour massage at Hollenbach Family Chiropractic and items from the boutique at Jolie.

Dr. Jacinda Hover is a women’s health advocate and Doctor of Chiropractic. She graduated from Hobart and William Smith Colleges with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, and National University of Health Sciences with her Doctorate of Chiropractic where she interned with Chicago dance company. Dr. Jacinda has been practicing Chiropractic for four years and is a member of the Association of New Jersey Chiropractors (ANJC), and the ICPA or International Chiropractic Pediatric Association. She is passionate about living a healthy lifestyle and enjoys educating the Madison community about nutrition and other lifestyle factors through community talks about nutrition, ergonomics, and other lifestyle determinants of health.

Rob Rafano, a Certified Financial Planner and Financial Advisor Managing Director from Ameriprise Financial Services, Inc. will be coming to campus to teach students the basics of financial planning that you can start TODAY!

Rob will be coming on campus twice this semester–in his first session he will be going over what to expect when you get first job from a finance stand point (how to save & make money, understanding your taxes, understanding benefits, what to opt for, why you should choose certain benefits versus others, etc.)
