Do you play the drums? Interested in learning how, or in learning more?

Individual instruction on drums, from beginning to advanced levels, is available at Drew with adjunct instructor Karl Latham, who is an internationally acclaimed drummer, known for his exceptional ability to dig into a variety of musical styles, playing straight-ahead jazz, avant-garde, funk, rock, Latin, and more. A practice drum kit is available for use by students registered for lessons or department ensembles.

The 2015 Karl Latham/Ryan Carniaux/Mark Egan release “Constellations”, was chosen by a “blindfold” jury to be included along with 5 other jazz groups worldwide, to participate in the BMW Welt Jazz Award 2016. The group performed at the BMW World Headquarters in Munich in February 2016, and this performance was recorded for Bayerischer Rundfunk and BMW TV. Karl is listed in the independent website Drummerworld.com “Top 500 Drummers” list.  Karl is an performing artist/clinician for Yamaha Drums, Paiste Cymbals, Vic Firth Drumsticks and Evans Drumheads.
