From long before Drew’s founding in 1867, the grounds on which the university rose were known as “The Forest”, hence the nickname University in the Forest. The Honor Roll of Donors recognizes the loyalty and commitment alumni, parents and friends to The Forest in the following leadership recognition societies.

The President’s Circle

In 1870 the McClintock Association began a fund raising campaign at Drew, which raised scholarship support in honor of John McClintock, Drew’s first president. Today the President’s Circle recognizes donors who have made cumulative lifetime gifts of $100,000 or more to the university.

The list of donors who belong to the President’s Circle is an honor roll of Drew’s most far-sighted and generous friends – friends who, over the years, have provided leadership to Drew’s various fund-raising campaigns, establishing scholarships, supporting programs, and funding buildings that have enabled the university to provide students with an exceptional education.

New Founder’s Society

The New Founders Society links Drew’s current benefactors to its early philanthropists, Daniel Drew and Arthur and Leonard Baldwin, whose vision and generosity established the university as we know it today.  The New Founders Society gratefully recognizes alumni, parents, faculty and staff, and friends of the university who have provided for Drew through a bequest or life income gift, or who have named Drew as beneficiary of a life insurance policy or retirement account.

The Blue & Green Club

The Blue & Green Club is the official booster club of Ranger Athletics and helps provide the resources Drew needs to be a leader among NCAA Division III programs. The Blue & Green Club gives alumni, parents and friends an opportunity to play an active role in supporting our outstanding student-athletes.

Drew Society

Long before there was a Drew University, villagers in Bottle Hill, NJ called the oak woodland west of town The Forest. With clubs that reflect this heritage, the Drew Society honors present-day donors who contribute $1,000 or more annually to the University in the Forest, including corporate matching gifts.

  • Heritage Oak Club: annual gifts of $10,000 or more
  • Copper Beech Club: annual gifts of $5,000 – $9,999
  • Sycamore Cottage Club: annual gifts of $2,500 – $4,999
  • Evergreen Club: annual gifts of $1,000 – $2,499

Dendros Society

The longevity and strength of a forest can be measured by counting the consecutive rings of its member trees, a process that is known as dendrochronology. Drew’s forest is no exception; here the rings are the dedicated alumni, parents, friends and organizations that sustain its growth year after year. The Dendros Society recognizes consecutive giving at any level by Drew’s most loyal supporters. Donors are recognized for giving five to nine consecutive fiscal years (Cambium Club) and ten years or more (Heartwood Club).
