The 2009 fall semester is shaping up to be an amazing time here at Drew. We are thrilled to have a record 503 students beginning their Drew experience, with nearly 60 enrolled in the initial year of the Baldwin Honors Program. Drew is also delighted to see two new majors, one in business and the other in environmental studies and sustainability, as well as a public health minor and a new center for civic engagement come to fruition. These programs have attracted a variety of talented students while complementing the current programs already in place.

As we engage our new and returning students in learning through academics, life experience and friendship, I can’t help but think what a great time of year it is for our alumni to return home to Drew. I hope you will come to see your alma mater as it exists today.

On September 25 – 26, we will recognize and honor all of our graduates during Alumni Homecoming Weekend. Whether you come home to the Forest to play in an athletic game, attend a lecture by one of our renowned faculty members, or gather for drinks and conversation at the Pub, you have the opportunity to experience once again the energy that is Drew.

For those of you in reunion years ending in 4 or 9, we look forward to commemorating your class anniversary milestone with special festivities planned throughout the weekend. I urge you to connect with your classmates and gather together as we celebrate your accomplishments and continued support of your alma mater.

We speak frequently of a concept, Drew for Life. Your connection to Drew lasts a lifetime. Whether you graduated today or more than 50 years ago, you remain part of the Drew community – a vibrant, thriving community that welcomes and rewards your active participation.

I look forward to greeting many of you personally at Alumni Homecoming Weekend.
