Civic Transfer Partnership

Civically engaged Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) students have the opportunity to join Drew University’s Civic Scholars program.

Junior transfer students admitted to this program receive:

  • An annual scholarship of $2,500 in addition to any merit aid
  • Access to funds to help support internships, travel for community-based learning courses and the senior civic project
  • Membership in a network of active, engaged students and alums committed to the greater good
  • Access to special events, workshops and civic engagement opportunities

To Apply

In addition to your Drew University application for admission and final RVCC transcript:

• Submit a service resume or student engagement transcript that documents 75 hours of community (at least 50 hours) and college (up to 25 hours) service.
• Write an application essay of 400–600 words that explains what you hope to gain from and contribute to Drew’s Civic Scholars program, describes one or two community service or civic engagement experiences—and connects these experiences to your academic learning in college.
• Submit a recommendation letter that speaks to your commitment to community and the greater good.

Applicants selected as finalists for admission to Drew’s Civic Scholars program will be invited to complete an interview with the director of the Center for Civic Engagement or her representative.
