Pre-College Choral Scholars.
Do you plan to continue singing in choral ensembles in college? Are you a high school junior or senior determined to stretch yourself before college? Are you seeking to improve your vocal technique and expand your knowledge of repertoire? The tuition-free Drew University Pre-College Choral Scholars program may be perfect for you.
Being mentored by college faculty while in high school gives you a remarkable jumpstart on creative expression, critical thinking and personal development, all crucial to your growth toward becoming a professional musician.
If you are selected as a Choral Scholar for the academic year, you could be a member of one or both of Drew University’s two choral ensembles, which rehearse in the evening and perform three to four concerts per year.
A mixed-voice (SATB) chamber choir that rehearses and performs a wide variety of choral repertoire from a number of historical eras.
A treble ensemble (SSAA) for students of any gender who sing soprano or alto. Latin for “in high voice,” Alta Voce rehearses and performs a wide variety of choral repertoire suited for treble voices.
Students admitted to this program who later enroll at Drew will receive a $10,000 Arts Scholarship ($2,500 each year over four years) in addition to any other merit scholarships.
Deadline: June 30, 2017
Finalists will be invited to complete a live audition on the Drew University campus prior to the start of the 2017–2018 academic year.
