As a student and advisee, you have the following responsibilities:

  • Use Drew email;
  • Check Drew email daily and respond to emails from advisers and instructors within 24 hrs;
  • Prepare for and actively participate in all adviser meetings. Clarify your values and goals and provide your adviser with accurate information regarding your interests and abilities;
  • Take initiative to seek advice from your adviser outside of adviser meetings and schedule appointments as needed;
  • Become knowledgeable about Drew programs, policies, and procedures, utilizing Drew web-based resources, including Treehouse and the catalog, to accessing academic and campus life information;
  • In consultation with your adviser, develop an academic plan that will inform your decision about major and minor selection in the sophomore year, and reevaluate that plan regularly in light of your developing interests and skills;
  • In consultation with your adviser, develop a longer-term academic plan, incorporating such experiences as internships and study abroad;
  • Understand the expectations and course policies articulated in course syllabi;
  • Keep track of deadlines and develop a timetable for preparing for exams and meeting course deadlines;
  • Read and respond to academic alerts issued by instructors;
  • Communicate regularly with your peer mentor(s);
  • Prepare your registration advising meeting by becoming familiar with Treehouse Ladder to explore the general education and specific major requirements.  Consult with your peer mentor(s) to help you prepare for this meeting.  Note that you will not be able to register until you have met with your adviser;
  • Take responsibility for academic decisions and performance, and follow through on suggested actions or referrals, engaging with resources on campus, including the Center for Academic Excellence;
  • Keep a personal record of academic progress;
