beyond the classroom

Internships

Ahhh, springtime in New York, and another swarm of new college graduates descends on the career capital of the world. Don’t join ’em—beat ’em by building your career before you frame your diploma.

Internships

Drew’s proximity to New York—and to New Jersey’s powerhouse corporate corridor—gives you an edge over the competition. Landing an internship means graduating with practical experience and professional connections (and maybe even an offer of full-time employment). More than half of all Drew seniors have an internship—or two—on their résumé.

Drew also builds career experiences right into its academic coursework. Exhibit A: The Semester in New York program provides intense, for-credit seminars that immerse you in Manhattan’s most sought-after career fields. Two days a week, you’ll live and breathe in the rarefied realms of Wall Street, the contemporary art scene, the United Nations or Theatre Row. You’ll add academic heft to your on-site training in classroom discussions with your professor and peers. Through experiential study, you become an insider, wise to the ways of your chosen career.

Don’t forget: Drew’s comprehensive career center can help, starting with a searchable database of more than 7,000 internships. Still don’t see one you like? We’ll help you create a custom internship matched to your goals and talents. We’ll also show you how to polish your interview skills, match your background to a satisfying career field or launch a successful search for the best graduate school program. After all, experience is the best teacher—not to mention the best boost to your résumé.

"My students tell me that the Semester on the United Nations program is an incredible capstone to their college career. Sitting in on sessions of the U.N. General Assembly, meeting with U.N. representatives, interning with a U.N. partner agency—these experiences make classroom lessons on international governance come alive in a concrete and powerful way."
