Dear Class of 2013,

As Commencement approaches, I encourage each of you to reflect back on your own educational journey and to think about the most influential teachers and mentors that you encountered along the way. Was there a K-12 educator, guidance counselor or coach whose impact shaped the person that you’ve become? Did this individual ignite your passion for an academic subject, community initiative or athletic sport? Do they deserve to be recognized for their excellence?

If so, then I hope you’ll nominate him or her for the President’s Mentor Recognition Award, which honors a K-12 educator who had an especially positive impact on one of our graduates. In keeping with our tradition, this individual will be recognized at a special moment during our Commencement weekend festivities.

To submit a nomination, please fill out the form below with your contact information and that of your nominee. Also, please be mindful to describe your nominee’s merit as a teacher and mentor, and explain why their influence on you was positive and formative. Nominations are due by Friday, April 12, at 5:00 p.m. Please direct questions to Communications Associate & Special Assistant to the President Michael E. Bressman, who can be reached at mbressma@drew.edu.

I look forward to reading your nominations and expect that selecting a winner will be equally challenging and rewarding.

Best,

Vivian A. Bull
University President

About the President’s Mentor Recognition Award:

The winner, who will be selected based on the strength of your nominations, will be honored during Commencement weekend. Drew will provide assistance with transportation and lodging so that the recipient may be with us for the ceremony.

When filling out the nomination form, it is important that you include your name and contact information, as well as those of your nominee, so that we may reach you and the chosen educator in advance of Commencement.
