Summer Orientation Program Schedule – July 7, 8, or 9, 2015

The registration form for this event will be available in May 2015.

Select one day only! If you cannot attend our on-campus Summer Orientation, you may participate in our Distance Orientation program.

8:30 – 9:15 AM: Program Check-In (Outside Tent) & Continental Breakfast (Concert Hall Lobby)

9:30 – 9:45 AM:  Opening Welcome (Concert Hall)

9:45 – 10:45 AM: Academic Expectations & General Education Requirements presentation

10:45 – 11:45 AM: Life on Campus Expectations presentation

12 – 12:45 PM: Lunch (The Commons)

1 – 4 PM: Placement Exams Please view our website for more information!
Exam locations will be printed on the schedule you receive upon arrival at Orientation.

  • Chemistry
  • Language Exams
    • Spanish, French, Italian, German, and Latin
      • Spanish, French, and Italian exams are required for everyone who plans to take these languages; even if you have no knowledge of the language you plan to take at Drew.
        • FYI: the German and Latin placement are only needed for students who have taken German or Latin before; if you have never taken one of these languages, but would like to take it at Drew, you do not need to take this exam.
    • Arabic, Chinese, and Russian
      • These exams are written and/or oral exams
  • Biology 
  • Math 

1 – 5:30 PM: Students – Academic Advisement & Course Registration (Rose Memorial Library)

  • All students will be assigned 30 minutes to meet individually with an academic advisor
    • Students will receive your assigned advisement time upon arrival to campus
    • Parents: This is a time for your student to begin developing a relationship with a faculty member, therefore this meeting is exclusively just for the student and the advisor.
  • After students are advised, you will then be directed to register for your courses in a computer lab. Representatives from our Registrar’s Office will be on site to assist you.
  • When you’re not getting advised or registered, students will be in small group activities with other incoming students and our Orientation Leaders. You will get to know new students and current Drew University students.

1:15 – 2:15 PM: Parents – First Year Transitions presentation (Concert Hall)

2:30 – 4:30 PM: Students/Parents – Campus Departments Open Hours

2:30 – 4:45 PM:  Optional Campus and Residence Hall Room Tours (Wesley House – Admissions Office)
