Barre-Sculpt with Megan
Barre-sculpt is a whole body workout that incorporates fun dance music, a ballet barre, weights, and a small playground ball to help reshape the entire body. It also includes intense isometric work, and elongating stretches to leave you feeling balanced and strong!
Belly Dancing is one of the oldest forms of dance known to date. This dance uses every muscle in the body and not only tones the body immensely but teaches the body poise and posture. Belly dancing is also great for people who have back problems; by strengthening the ab muscles it will create a stronger back. This class will begin with a warm up of stretches, then move onto a drilling section that will teach you the basics of belly dance and all the isolations. The last part of this class will end with a piece of choreography using the moves you learn during the drilling section! Belly Dance is for all ages and sizes and everyone is welcomed to come and try it! For class please wear either a long skirt or some type of yoga pants/sweat pants, with a sports-bra, or any kind of form fitting top.
Bootcamp with Lisa
Are you looking to take your fitness to the next level or just looking for a challenge? Then boot camp is for you! This total-body workout will focus on a wide range of fitness components to include strength training, cardio, core, speed and agility. Sample classes consist of but are not limited to circuit training, obstacle courses, plyometrics and body weight exercises. All fitness levels are welcomed. Just bring a towel and some water and be prepared to have a great workout!
Country Line Cardio
Are you looking to ease back into shape? Does cardio typically bore you? Would you be more willing to go to a fitness class if all your friends were going too? Finally, the perfect solution! Country Line Cardio will get you back into shape easily and painlessly! This class is designed to give you slimmer hips and legs as well as improved cardiovascular health. The time FLIES by as the instructor combines teaching actual country line dancing steps with continuous cardio set to popular country music. There’s sure to be more than a few “Woohoo”s and “Yeehaw”s so come on in and get down with your country self!
Fusion Funk with Katya
As the hip hop style has integrated itself more and more into contemporary culture, it is only fair that this type of dance becomes more accessible to the community. While stemming from the same technique as hip hop, fusion funk holds more of a dynamic movement and has a funkier groove. This class will work on strengthening the core muscles and furthering flexibility through a series of basic abdominal routines, dance warm-up techniques, and stretching. Students will learn a new hip hop technique and work on a routine at the end of each class, allowing them to build up endurance and muscle memory. In class students should wear some form of sneaker or athletic shoe and clothes that they can easily move around in. All levels of fitness are welcome.
Pilates with Pam
Pilates Matwork It’s unique system of strengthening and stretching creates lean, strong muscles without the use of machines. Participants of all fitness levels will learn ways of connecting with the strength at the body’s core, the powerhouse, while simultaneously improving flexibility, balance, and posture. Pilates with Megan
Megan’s class focuses on working pass your limit to help achieve your best self through challenging Pilates matwork exercises. This sometimes includes the use of props like the Pilates ring and hand weights.
Stress Relief with Carol
At one time or another, we have all felt the effects of too much stress in our lives. In this workshop series, participants will explore a number of techniques that research shows help to reduce stress. These techniques include progressive relaxation, mindfulness meditation, breathing exercises, how nutrition may affect mood, and worry control. This is not a therapy group but a coping-skills workshop that is designed so that participants may choose techniques that best support their overall health and functioning.
Total Body Toning
Get the results you want! Designed for all ages and fitness levels, “Rock Hard” total body toning will improve muscle tone, posture, balance and strength with a workout that employs tools such as lightweight dumbbells, concentrated movements, and your own body resistance! If you have ever taken a basic toning fitness class before, this format might be familiar without being stale. Achieve your fitness goals with this total body toning workout that incorporates elements of toning, cardio, circuit-style and interval-style training. Build your strength, stamina, and agility by working from top to bottom –biceps, triceps, chest, back, shoulders, legs, and a special concentration on the midsection with a segment entitled “Sheli’s super abs.” Come prepared to build your strength, stamina, agility, and a positive outlook on exercise! Bring a water bottle (or two), a hand towel if desired, and a positive attitude. Strong body, strong mind.
TRX Suspension Training
Want to try something new and unique? Designed for all ages and fitness levels, “TRX Suspension training” total body workout will improve muscle tone, posture, balance and strength with a workout style originally developed by the Navy seals and used currently in fitness centers, martial arts studios, and in the military. TRX employs tools such as concentrated movements, as well as your own body’s resistance, angle, and the pure force of gravity! Suspension training involves using a nylon band system (called the TRX) unlike the typical resistance band that you might be accustomed. The TRX hangs easily from the wall with handles. Achieve your fitness goals with this total body toning workout that incorporates elements of toning, cardio, circuit-style and interval-style training. Build your strength, stamina, and agility by working from top to bottom –biceps, triceps, chest, back, shoulders, abs, and legs. Come prepared to build a positive outlook on exercise! Bring a water bottle (or two), a hand towel if desired, and a positive attitude. You can do it!
Yoga with Jane
Learn simple limbering exercises, proper breathing, correct alignment, and foundational yoga poses to: energize and revitalize, become stronger and more flexible, develop greater mental concentration and clarity, cleanse the nervous system and restore calm.
Gentle Flow Yoga with Roseann
The word yoga means “union” and relates to bringing together the body, mind and spirit. Without that merging, we cannot live in true wholeness. The yoga classes offered here at Drew are of a gentle, ”vinyasa” or flow style. Emphasis is placed on moving mindfully, connecting body movement with breath, to that place within where balance always exists. Developing our practice allows us to live more closely to that place in our everyday lives.
The class is appropriate for all levels of practice including beginner. No prior experience or knowledge is necessary. Everyone moves to his or her own level of comfort within the poses offered. An openness to change is all that is asked!
Zumba with Ashley
Zumba is a “feel happy” workout that focuses on creating a “party-like” atmosphere so that people believe they are having fun and not working out! Zumba is a fitness class that combines Latin dance with interval training (combining fast and slow rhythms) and resistance training for an effective workout. The great part about Zumba is you don’t have to know how to dance, you just need to move your body and follow the instructor! Zumba dance styles include salsa, meringue, reggaeton, cumbia, and much more!
